BMS Parent Advisory Council (PAC)

The Bird Middle School Parent Advisory Council is an organization of all parents and guardians which serves as a forum for the sharing of ideas and discussion of school-related issues, encourages parental participation, and supports and enhances the educational process at Bird Middle School.  All parents and guardians in the BMS community are welcome and encouraged to attend the meetings.

About the BMS PAC...

The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) for each school is an organized group which:

  • Serves as a conduit for communication between principal, teacers, and parents
  • Provides input to the principal regarding issues at the building level
  • Provides fundraising activities to support enrichment programs for the students and supplements the school budget
  • Organizes the volunteer support services to the school

Goals of PAC:

  • Inform parents about the school and the needs of students
  • Represent the needs and concerns of the school to system and town-wide
  • Provide student enrichment programs
  • Provide parent volunteers to support both daily school routine and extracurricular activities
  • Offer speakers and discussion group on topics of interest
  • Encourage participation in community service
  • Raise runds to implement these goals

PAC Guidelines:

  • PAC will be open to all parents and guardians of BMS students
  • PAC will have a steering committee consisting of chairpeople, a secretary, and a treasurer.  Other positions may be added as needed.
  • PAC will meet one evening in September, November, January, March, and May
  • In the spring of each year, the PAC will review each committee and positions will be filled as needed by the volunteers
